Why a PMD?
More often than not, unfortunately, all the great ideas that come up during brainstorming, remain just ideas. They're not carried out, because of a lack of time, energy, funds, knowhow, et cetera. 'Maybe next time, if we start in an earlier stage, things would work out…' But often there is no ‘next time’. And then it’s even more disappointing if a project that has been developed with care and dedication never gets off the ground.
A PMD acknowledges that M&D is not a separate division within a movie project, but is closely connected to all other activities. He realizes that marketing doesn’t start just when the film has been shot, but long before that. He understands which person should be on what position in order to work efficiently. He uses the possibilities offered by the new media – not just to ‘market’ a film but to create an interested and dedicated audience as well. Moreover, since the PMD knows his way around in the world of new media and digital marketing, he can take care of the M&D for a film in an efficient manner.
By approaching the right partners in an early stage, the PMD can gear all the interests and activities to one another and generate without additional costs extra promotion means and media attention.
